A World of Light and Texture Created with Pencil
Size: 24" x 18"
Medium: Pencil
I completed this still life through countless observations. Rather than simply drawing objects from their appearance, I studied how the materials of different objects react and appear in different light. It was an opportunity to experience the charm of still life drawing, deeply expressing the diversity of objects through the simplest tool, a pencil.
In the painting, I observed the glass material's surface, which softly sways and reflects light, creating a transparent and light three-dimensional effect. I also learned that rough materials like wood and animal bones require a more detailed, even basic, shading process to create a more three-dimensional effect. Since I'm deeply interested in makeup art, which uses shading to enhance the face, I found great joy in creating three-dimensionality through the simple, countless shades of gray of a pencil, rather than color.
