The Silence of Women Trapped by Violence

Size: 24" x 18"
Medium: Pencil & Charcoal

Women are more vulnerable physically, economically, and socially. In many places, countless women still appear in the news as victims of domestic violence. The crisis and hardships these women, who are our mothers and beloved lovers, face within their families are more serious than we realize. I am deeply interested in women's rights and resolving gender conflicts, so I sought to portray women suffering from domestic violence in this work. Human hand gestures can express a wide range of emotions, and sometimes, they convey those emotions more effectively. Therefore, in this painting, to further emphasize the woman's suffering, I used hand gestures to convey the severity of violence. The various hand gestures express the isolation, psychological trauma, and anger of the woman in the center. Through the colors of the pencil drawing, I attempted to portray a dark future with no solution in sight.
